How to use our search page
12 countries, all members of the European Union Expansion are presented. You may search our database in any one of the following ways, or by combining several criteria, also called parameters.
The Search Page
You may enter data that will be used to process the database. The data you enter is implemented in searching through the database to select the appropriate records and make up the criteria or parameters of the search.
After selecting and entering search criteria, click on the Search Button. If a result set could be generated, i.e. the criteria used matched one or more records, the Results Tab on this page will become active and visible in your browser.
In the Results Window, you are able to page through the results using the navigation links found at the bottom of the page. On first loading this page, the results are orted alphabetically in ascending order. The user can adjust this sort order by clicking on the column title. Each click will change the order from ascending to descending to ascending and so on. Remember that on each click the data is refreshed.
You can switch back and forth between the Search and Results Tabs without any changes or results being lost. For example, once you have perused the results, you may decide to select a different country with all other criteria remaining in place. A new click of the Search Button on the Search Tab will generate a new set of results taking the modified criteria into account. If you do not change any criteria, you may switch back to the results which remain in place until a new search is performed.
Searching by Country (recommended)
When using a country as a search criterion at least one of the following additional criteria must be selected or entered:
- A Trade Category
- A Trade Sub-Category (which automatically implies a Trade Category has been selected)
- A 3-letter sequence which is to be found within a company name
- A 3-letter sequence which is to be found within a city name
Results generated via a country selection are narrowed down substantially by this criterion. The more criteria used in a search, the more exact a match can be expected. However, due to the nature of data, it may be of value to implement more criteria once a basic search with only one additional parameter (to the selected country) has been done. In this way the user will be able to gauge the impact of the criteria used.
Selecting a Trade Sub-Category within a country will return records that are explicitly tagged as belonging to the selected sub-category, whereas selecting only a major Trade Category will reflect both these sub-category records and records in the overlying major trade.
Searching Cross-Border by Trade
By using only a trade category as a criterion, a result is generated across all countries. This will return the largest set of data. In certain cases the returned result may prove to be cumbersome or very large. In this case, you may adjust the search parameters on the Search Tab and redo the search, for example by selecting a Trade Sub-Category.
Viewing Details
Once you have a set of results on the Results Tab, you can navigate through them page by page using the first-next-last-previous links. The records in the results may have one of three attributes:
Black text: standard information (address and at least one communication item)
Blue text: more information than the standard entries, for example there may be an e-mail
address or a link to a website etc.
Red text: these records have extended information and usually a graphic representation as well.
These are records of business entities that actively emphasize their interest in doing business and
should therefore prove most valuable to the users.
Clicking on the company name will generate a detail page as a pop-up. The pop-up contains all information available at the time of generation. You can print this page by clicking on the print button at the bottom of the page. You can close the pop-up by clicking the X in the top right corner. If you do not close the pop-up, and you click another company name, the content of the pop-up will change to the details of the newly selected company.
